The Portuguese pilot Miguel Barbosa, tricampeão national all-terrain, announced this Monday that will fail to participate in Dakar'2009 Rally Argentina-Chile, due to lack of financial support.
"They met all the technical requirements of BMW with the team but could not find the necessary support," said Miguel Barbosa to the agency Lusa.
Barbosa, who participated in the Lisbon-Dakar in 2006 and 2007, said that the "consequences of the financial crisis" and the fact that the competition takes place in Argentina difficult to obtain sponsors.
"We feel great difficulty in getting support and we had to abdicate. I am very sorry because it will be a great trial," he said.
